Supporter pushes car an entire marathon for WCRF

Adrian and the Mercedes Smart Car

I never stop being amazed by the creativity of our supporters.

Just when you think you’ve seen every type of fundraising event, you can guarantee someone will come up with some wacky new idea.

And that latest someone is Adrian Kane, who will be pushing a Mercedes Smart car for 26.2 miles – an entire marathon! – on July 31 in a bid to raise £40,000 for us and the Stroke Association.

He decided to take on the challenge after losing his mum, Eileen, to bowel cancer and stroke in January. We sent out a press release about Adrian’s feat and we’ve had articles in The Independent, The Scotsman and on the BBC website.

Adrian will also be holding a ‘guess the steps’ competition where people can pay £1 to guess how many steps he takes to complete his challenge. You can also guess how many steps he will take after 1, 2, 4, 6 and 8 hours. Prizes include two top price tickets to Love Never Dies, a Nintendo DS Lite and Tiger Woods Golf game and a £100 Boden clothing gift voucher.

We wish Adrian luck with his challenge and would urge people to show their support for him by sponsoring him. We will keep you posted on how he does!
