Hi James,

The link between cancer prevention and maintaining a healthy weight is fully explored in our 2007 report Food, Nutrition, Physical Activity and the Prevention of Cancer: a Global Perspective (aka the Second Expert Report). This can be downloaded at www.dieandcancerreport.org

Regards,

Andy

This recent study regarding the relationship between alcohol intake and risk in having cancer is great. While there is a direct relationship between the two, only a few people are aware that excessive intake can indeed increase their risk in having cancer. Hopefully, more people can be educated with this matter through this recent study. Thanks for sharing.

What is the following statement based on:

"This is a concern because scientists now say that, after not smoking, maintaining a healthy weight is the most important thing you can do for cancer prevention"

Could you cite a reference for this - be interested to read more about it.

I really liked that you specified "foods that contain fibre, rather than fibre supplements." Whole food is simply the very best for whole health and wellness. We need to eat right first then supplement. So many of us just want that magic pill while we fill our bodies with junk.

I have three main points to make

1/ If Zoe Harcombe spent less time trying to give dietetics a bad name she might actually find out what we really do to support people with changing the BEHAVIOURS (not food intolerance, candida or hypoglycaemia)that result in weight gain. Humans are autonomous and they make their own decisions about what to eat

2/ What evidence and research has Zoe done/referenced for a low carb approach to long term weight loss? 98% of diets fail - Zoe has produced yet another diet that results in confusing people. We support people to look at long-term behaviour changes with an approach that is substantially evidence based

3/ The majority of the references in the book are pre 1950 and another signficant number come from news paper articles/you tube/authors who are on Quackwatch!

It is frustrating to work so hard and so passionately in supporting people to lose weight and then have someone with no nutrition qualifications or professionalism to discredit what you do.
